Vehicle Emissions Test Facility
'Supporting a cleaner vehicle fleet for South Australia'
The Vehicle Emissions Test Facility supports maintaining good air quality and programs to reduce greenhouse gas and other emissions from the road transport sector in the face of increasing vehicle activity and diesel fuel consumption.
Adelaide's air quality rates well when compared to many other Australian cities. The challenge is to maintain that rating.
What does the Facility have to offer?
The Vehicle Emissions Test Facility is South Australia's only accredited in-service facility with approved testing equipment able to provide laboratory grade results for all vehicle types from small passenger cars to buses and trucks.
The Facility can conduct tests
- to claim the Fuel Tax Credit (the DT80 test)
- to check LPG conversion kits meet Australian Standards
- to check emissions from modified vehicles
- test vehicles using alternative fuels
Free Training
TAFE SA South at O'Halloran Hill is conducting courses in diesel emissions which are currently free of charge. The two day course includes participants identifying links between regular vehicle servicing and improved emissions performance, and fuel economy. The course provides information regarding the cause and effect of emissions, allows opportunities for discussions and participants can see demonstrations of emission testing at both the O'Halloran Hill Heavy Vehicle Department and the Vehicle Emissions Test Facility at Regency Park.
