Traffic Operations
Cable Location Service
Transport SA provides a cable location service to organisations wishing to
dig in the vicinity of the electrical cables associated with traffic signals
and road lighting.
The consequences of damaging electrical cables can be high in terms of cost
and safety for operators concerned.
This service can be obtained by making a free phone call to
the Traffic Control Centre on ph: 1800 018 313
Emergency Phones
Emergency phones are generally located along roads that do not provide easy
access to public phones.
Transport SA maintains a network of phones located on
- South East Freeway - 80
- Eyre Highway - 3
- Stuart Highway - 4
- Port Wakefield Rd - 1
- Lonsdale - 2
- Southern Expressway - 40
Most phones are activated simply by pressing a button and are connected to
the RAA, except for those on the Southern Expressway which are directly linked
to Transport SA’s Traffic Control Centre.
The calling phone is automatically identified allowing the RAA or the Traffic
Control Centre to locate the caller.
Phones are usually placed at about 1 km intervals and in
pairs so that motorists do not need to cross the road.
Fault Reporting
While most signals are monitored by the Adelaide
Coordinated Traffic Signal (ACTS) system, the Traffic Control Centre also
relies on phone calls from motorists and pedestrians to report faults with traffic
signals.

road report card form.
