Metropolitan Road Management

Applications for roadworks & closures on major arterial roads in the metropolitan region

Transport SA monitors all impediments to traffic flow including incidents (such as signal faults) and roadworks.

Roadworks are defined as

  • trenching the road to repair or install services
  • boring the road to install services
  • road or lane closures for the purposes of roadworks / special events.

Transport SA monitors roadworks by other service providers to

  • ensure the road asset is preserved
  • coordinate traffic flow
  • act as a conduit between the general travelling public and the range of contractors
  • provide a point of contact for emergency callouts, damage claims and public enquiries.

All trenching and boring works are to be carried out in accordance with Transport SA’s standard specification for the Excavation and Reinstatement of Road Pavement. All roadworks are to be signed in accordance with AS1742.3, Traffic Control Devices for Works on Roads.

Notifying Transport SA is an important requirement and all service authorities and developers are obliged to provide this notification. Faxing the Notification of works impacting on Transport SA roads (PDF) form and a map detailing location of works is normally sufficient notification.
