Technology Requirements

Browser requirements

We endeavour to ensure this Internet site works on the widest range of browsers, operating systems, and computer types. While there may be some inconsistencies between the differing technologies, we have found these dramatically decrease with the more recent browsers versions (as shown below).

Operating Systems Tested on: Browsers Tested on: Recommended Versions:
  • Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, NT 4.0 or Vista
  • Mac OS X
  • Internet Explorer
  • Opera
  • Netscape Communicator
  • Netscape
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Internet Explorer 5.5+
  • Opera 6.x +
  • Netscape Communicator 4.7x +
  • Netscape 6.x +

Additional browser requirements for our online transactions

In order to provide the safest and most secure online transactions possible, we have targeted, tested and support the following range of web browsers and platforms.

* Note:

  • We will continue making every effort to ensure this site works on a wide range of browsers and platforms.
While performing online transactions, it is preferable to use the back button provided within the web page, rather than the back button on the browser (which may generate transaction errors).

This site is best accessed with at least:

  • a minimum 56k modem
  • 16bit colour, but also viewable in 256 colours
  • screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels

Is your browser set to the appropriate encryption standard?

If you have received a "Page Not Found" message while accessing the information and online transactions from this site, it may be because some versions of Internet Explorer used don't meet the encryption standards required by the site (128-bit encryption).

These minimum standards are required to ensure data transmitted during a transaction remains encrypted at a high level, to prevent hackers and the like from accessing client data.

To solve this, you may wish to check the level of encryption accepted by your browser, and upgrade if required.

Instructions on how to find out your security encryption for Internet Explorer

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Select HELP from top tool bar
  • Select About Internet Explorer
  • A screen will be displayed indicating the Version and Cipher Strength
e.g. Version 5.00 Cipher Strength: 40-bit (Update Information)
  • Cipher strength needs to be 128-bit. If this is not the case, select (Update Information)
  • A screen will be displayed after a few moments showing "Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack"
  • On the right hand side there will be a series of download options (they only take a minute or so to download)
  • Select the most appropriate option depending on your PC's operating system and version of internet browser

Windows Media

Q: How do I view streaming video?

A: To view the videos, you must download and install the freely available Windows Media Player software from Microsoft.

Q: What is streaming media?

A: Streaming media allows you to begin viewing the video before the entire file has been transmitted.

Q: Where can I get help using the player I have chosen?

A: Please see the Windows Media Player FAQ for more information.

Q: Why can I not play video content?

A: Newer versions of Windows Media Player, starting with the version included in Internet Explorer 5 and Windows 98 Second Edition, do not support playback of any RealNetworks content. Windows Media Player supports Windows Media (WMA, ASF), MP3, WAV, MIDI, AVI, and other formats.

Q: How can I use my Windows Media Player with Netscape?

A: You need to have the Netscape Navigator plug-in that is automatically installed with the Windows Media Player. The plug-in, Npdsplay.dll, is copied to the "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player" folder during setup. If this file is present, the plug-in will have been installed for all detected Netscape Navigator installations.

If you do not have the plug-in, you can reinstall Windows Media Player from http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/download/default.asp to install the plug-in.

Once the player is installed, you may need to refresh your Web page (which should contain "navigator.plugins.refresh();") to get the plug-in table updated. Alternatively, you can enter "navigator.plugins.refresh();" in the address bar, and then reload the current page.

Note In Netscape Navigator 6.0, you may encounter some problems with streaming media content. The plug-in architecture in Navigator 6 has been completely redesigned, which breaks compatibility with existing plug-ins. We are aware of the issue. No workaround is available at this time. The Windows Media Plug-in remains compatible with earlier versions of Netscape Navigator and other browsers.

Security Software

There are known problems that restrict the correct display and function of the JavaScript menu system when using firewall software such as Zone Alarm Pro, Black Ice, Norton Internet Security and other Firewall Software packages.

Detailed Instructions

Are filters or firewalls preventing access to the transactions?

Your Internet Service Provider may also impose similar security features which prevent some types of data from reaching your computer.

Occasionally, these features can cause unexpected errors and/or prevent some computers from accessing parts of our Internet site. If this is the case, please contact us as we can usually assist you in another way.
