Rural Road Safety Seminar

On 25 November 2004 four prominent road safety practitioners were invited to speak at a seminar held by the Road Safety Directorate of the Transport Planning Agency (Department of Transport and Urban Planning).

The seminar focussed on rural road safety and each speaker was asked to share their knowledge on topics of which they are considered to be experts. These topics included; fatigue, community road safety, infrastructure and enforcement. The speakers who presented were -

  • Mr John Spencer, Department of Transport and Urban Planning.
  • Mr Bruce Corben, Monash University Accident Research Centre.
  • Ms Catherine Parker, New South Wales Road Traffic Authority.
  • Snr Sgt Paul Friend, South Australia Police.
  • Professor Laurence Hartley, Murdoch University.
