River Murray and lakes low water levels

All boaters are warned to take extra care when boating on the RIver Murray and lakes as there is an increasing number of hazards and snags that are appearing near the water's surface. This is due to the prevailing drought conditions and resulting low water flows into the River Murray and lakes.

This site is provided to enable the boating community access to recent boating related information from Media Releases, Notices to Mariners, DTEI Information Bulletins and links to other Government Internet sites.

Hazard Maps
DTEI have provided maps and photographs to help boaters identify various hazards in the Goolwa and Lakes area as well as a section of the River Murray between Blanchetown and Swan Reach.

Ferry Services
The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure provides free 24 hour, seven day per week ferry services at 11 River Murray crossings.

Currently, there is a ferry in operation at all sites.

For the latest information about ferry services on the Murray River refer to ferry locations and operational status, user rules and regulations, impact of the drought, contact details and technical information.
