Hazard maps - between Blanchetown and Swan Reach

With continuing low flows into the River Murray and lakes DTEI is providing maps to identify emerging hazards. The maps can assist boaters understand where hazards may exist before going out on the water.

As the skipper you are responsible for the safe operation of your vessel and DTEI urges you to take care over the coming months as low flows continue. There are a number of precautions you can take to ensure safer boating:

  • reduce your speed
  • know your buoys, marks and beacons
  • wear a pfd (lifejacket) at all times
  • check for hazards and water depth before high speed activity
  • remain in the marked channel
  • be more aware of the conditions caused by low water levels – be observant
  • don’t drink and boat.

You can help DTEI identify navigation hazards by e-mailing the location, with a GPS coordinate if possible, and the hazard to the Department at: dtei.recboating@saugov.sa.gov.au or phone River Watch on (08) 8531 0710.
