Home > Safer Vehicles > New vehicle crash tests Vehicles are subjected to a range of standard crash tests to gauge the level of occupant and pedestrian safety provided by the vehicle. Vehicle buyers are able to use the crash tests as a guide when purchasing a vehicle and compare the safety of models. ANCAP is supported by Australian automobile clubs and state government road and transport authorities. Test results were first published in 1993. Results of crash tests for a wide range of late model large, medium and small cars, four-wheel drives and utilities sold in Australia are available from the Australian Automobile Association, the How safe is your car website, and other state automobile club sites. Similar programs are also carried out in Europe, Japan, and the USA. |
