Notice to Mariners No 21 of 2002

South Australia - Port Lincoln shipping lanes established

The following shipping lanes have been established in the approaches to Port Lincoln. Inbound and outbound traffic are advised to use these lanes as they are free of local marine fish farms. The northern lane is for deep draft vessels and the southern lane for smaller vessels.

The northern lane is bounded by the following AGD66 co-ordinates:

From seaward commencing on the eastern side from coordinate A 34º49'.70 S 136º16'.70E, thence in a direction 333º to co-ordinate B 34º41'.00S 136º11'.50E, thence in a direction 313º to co-ordinate C 34º38'.08S 136º07'.79E thence in a direction of 263º to co-ordinate D 34º39'08S 135º57'.58E.

Similarly on the western side of the lane, commencing from co-ordinate E 34º49'.83S 136º15'.52E, in a direction 333º to co-ordinate F 34º41'.47S 136º10'.42E, thence in a direction 313º to co-ordinate G 34º39'.14S 136º07'.39E thence in a direction of 263º to co-ordinate H 34º40'.08S 135º 57'.61E.

The existing charted route is to be amended to run along the middle of the above lane to arrive at the pilot station for Port Lincoln

The southern lane is bounded by the following AGD66 co-ordinates.

Commencing on the northern side from Hayden Point co-ordinate I 34º43'.55S 135º57'.49E in a direction 064º to join the northern lane at co-ordinate K 34º39'.46S 136º07'.84E.

Similarly on the southern side of the lane commencing from co-ordinate J 34º44'.18S 135º57'.42E in a direction of 064º to join the northern lane at co-ordinate L 34º39'.88S 136º 08'.37E.
