Notice to Mariners No 14 of 2002

South Australia- Port Adelaide River- Repairs to Birkenhead Bridge

No. 14 of 2002

Mariners are advised that the bridge will be closed to marine traffic from Monday 29th April to Monday 6th May 2002 from 0700 to 1700 hours on each day to allow for major repairs to be carried out. The operations will require the Bascule Span Leaves being opened and left at an angle of 60 degrees during the replacement work.
A barge equipped with a crane will be used to complete the installation and will exhibit the appropriate lights, shapes and special marker buoys as required by International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at sea.
Mariners are advised that river traffic will be unable to pass during the times of closure.
In an emergency situation restricted marine traffic conditions may occur outside these times.
