Outback Roads Temporary Closures, Restrictions and Warnings Report

Oodnadatta Track

Area: Strzelecki/Birdsville Tracks | Oodnadatta Track | Gawler Ranges | Flinders Ranges

A new report will be issued when any road conditions change.   

Status:

 Oodnadatta to Hamilton HS - Warning - Caution due to extensive wheel rutting
Oodnadatta to Marla - Open to all vehicles
Oodnadatta to William Creek - Warning - Caution between due to corrugations, bulldust, rough surface, and loose stones.
Oodnadatta to Coober Pedy - Open to all vehicles - KEMPE ROAD
Painted Desert Road - Open to all vehicles
Mintabie Road - Open to all vehicles
Coober Pedy to William Creek - Warning - Caution at wheel rutted sections
William Creek to Bopeechee - Open to all vehicles
Bopeechee to Roxby Downs - Open to all vehicles
Bopeechee to Marree - Open to all vehicles
Mount Barry to San Marino - Open to all vehicles
Mount Barry to Arckaringa - Open to all vehicles
Hamilton HS to Mt Dare - Warning - Caution due to extensive wheel rutting

Special Notices

  • Birdsville Inside Track - Closed due to flooding of Goyders Lagoon
  • PUBLIC ACCESS ROUTE (PAR) INFORMATION
  • Halligan Bay Track (access to Lake Eyre North) - Open only to 4WD with caution. This is a declared PAR. It is a bush track not a road. The track is deteroriating due to increased traffic - be aware of corrugations and bulldust holes. Please drive to track conditions. Driving on the lake surface is an offence and dangerous. Trailers and caravans are not recommended.
  • Level Post Bay Track - Open only to 4WD with caution. This is a declared PAR. It is a bush track not a road. The road is deteriorating due to increased traffic - be aware of corrugations and bulldust holes. Please drive to track conditions. Driving on the lake surface is an offence and dangerous. Trailers and caravans are no recommended. No camping at Level Post Bay - camping available at Muloorina Campground.
  • K1 Warburton PAR into the Simpson Desert is flooded and closed to all traffic until further notice.
  • Walkers Crossing PAR is open with extreme caution at the Innamincka end due to sand drifts.
  • NATIONAL PARKS INFORMATION
  • Witjira National Park - Spring Creek Delta - permanently closed - use bypass track located 5km east of Dalhousie Springs.
