Outback Roads Temporary Closures, Restrictions and Warnings Report

Strzelecki/Birdsville Tracks

Area: Strzelecki/Birdsville Tracks | Oodnadatta Track | Gawler Ranges | Flinders Ranges

A new report will be issued when any road conditions change.   

Status:

 Strzelecki Track (Innamincka to Lyndhurst)
  •     4WD Only - Merty Merty To Moomba - Caution at creeks, scours and floodways. Soft road from Mt Hopeless to Moomba, carry extra fuel,.
  •     Open - The Knob To Mt Hopeless
  •     Open - Lyndhurst To The Knob
  •     Warning - Moomba To Della - Caution at due to rain damage
  •     Warning - Della To Innamincka - Caution due to rain damage.
  •     4WD Only - Mount Hopeless To Merty Merty - Caution at creeks, floodways and scours. Soft road from Mt Hopeless to Moomba, carry extra fuel. Caution also due to roadworks between Monte Collina and Merty Merty - speed restictions apply.
Birdsville Track (Marree to Birdsville) - 4WD Only - Note: Open to 4WD and Heavy Vehicles. Not suitable for low clearance vehicles. Caution at creeks, floodways, scours and wheel rutting from Clayton Station to Blue Ute Bore., Note: Open to 4WD and Heavy Vehiclces. Not sutiable for low clearance vehicles. Caution at creeks, floodways, scours and wheel rutting from Clayton Station to Blue Ute Bore.
Marree to Muloorina - Closed - Due to rain
Marree to Lyndhurst - Warning - Caution - rain damage
Mt Hopeless to Arkaroola
  •     Closed - Balcanoona To Beverley Mine Turn Off - Due to rain
  •     Closed - Beverley Mine Turn Off To Mt Hopeless - Due to rain
  •     Warning - Balcanoona To Arkaroola - Caution due to wet conditions and at creek crossings
Merty Merty to Cameron Corner - Closed - Due to rain
Moomba to Gidgealpa - Closed - Due to rain
Innamincka to Nappamerrie - Closed - Due to rain
Innamincka to the Border via Arrabury Turnoff
  •     Open - Arrabury Turnoff To The Border
  •     Closed - Patchawarra Bore To Arrabury Turnoff - Due tor ain
  •     Closed - Innamincka To Patchawarra Bore - Due to rain. 3m water flowing over Innamincka Causeway.
Mungeranie to Kalamurina - Closed - Due to rain
The Knob to Moolawatana - Closed - Due to rain

Special Notices

  • Farina to Mulgaria - CLOSED due to rain
  • Pondela Ruin to Kangaroo Well via Moonaree Station - 4WD only - caution at creek crossings and washouts.
  • Yunta to Carrieton via Baratta Station - Caution at creek crossings
  • Birdsville Inside Track - Closed due to flooding of Goyders Lagoon. Note access from Birdsville to Alton Downs Station is open.
  • PUBLIC ACCESS ROUTE (PAR) INFORMATION
  • Halligan Bay Track (access to Lake Eyre North) and Level Post Bay Track (access to Lake Eyre South) - Open only to 4WD with caution. These are declared PAR. They are bush tracks not road.s The tracks are deteroriating due to increased traffic - be aware of corrugations and bulldust holes. Please drive to track conditions. Driving on the lake surface is an offence and dangerous. Trailers and caravans are not recommended. Note: There is no camping at Level Post Bay - camping available at Muloorina Campground.
  • K1 Warburton PAR into the Simpson Desert is CLOSED until 16 March 2010.
  • NATIONAL PARKS INFORMATION
  • Witjira National Park - Spring Creek Delta permanently closed - use bypass track located 5km east of Dalhouise Springs.
  • Simpson Desert Regional Reserve and Conservation Park is CLOSED until 16 March 2010.
