Interstate Visitor’s Permit

You may apply for an Interstate Visitor’s Permit if

  • you are from interstate
    and
  • the registration label for your vehicle has been lost or destroyed

You can use the permit while you wait for the replacement label from your state or territory.

Customer Service Centres cannot apply for the replacement label on your behalf.

An Interstate Visitor’s Permit can only be issued if you

  • provide evidence that the vehicle is registered interstate
    or
  • have a permit which authorises its use in that state or territory.

You will need to fill out an Application for a Visitor’s Permit. This can be done at any Customer Service Centre.

If you become a permanent resident, you must register your vehicle in South Australia within 3 months. See Interstate vehicle registration.

Contact us if you need any further information.
