Port River Expressway Roadworks:
Francis Street/Eastern Parade traffic changes

Temporary traffic changes on Francis Street and Eastern Parade, Port Adelaide, will come into effect from this holiday Monday as work on Stage 1 of the Port River Expressway progresses.

From 8am Monday 9 June 2003, traffic using Francis Street will need to use the temporary lanes provided so that work can start on a road overpass.

North-bound traffic on Eastern Parade will also be reduced to a single lane on the approach to Francis Street and through the work site.

South-bound traffic on Eastern Parade will still be able to use two lanes, however, drivers are asked to take care to ensure vehicles turning right into Francis Street can do so safely.

Motorists traveling through the work zone will be restricted to 40 km/h with electronic message signs advising motorists of these temporary arrangements.

When completed in September 2004, the road overpass will connect road traffic from the new Port River Expressway to Francis Street, which will be widened to four lanes.

The Federal and State Governments’ Roads of National Importance Program is funding the $62 million Port River Expressway Stage 1 road works.

Transport SA encourages motorists to use alternative routes where possible and thanks all road users traversing through the site for their patience while works are underway.
