Medical fitness to drive

If you have a medical condition that may impair your ability to drive a motor vehicle of a particular class, you should contact any Customer Service Centre on 13 10 84 before undertaking training to obtain a higher class of licence. You will be required to produce a Certificate of Fitness to Drive prior to the new licence classification being endorsed on your Driver’s Licence.

Minimum driving experience
Minimum driving experience required to update your licence class is based on the total time that the appropriate class of Driver’s Licence has been held. Driving experience includes any period that you were subject to provisional or probationary licence conditions.

However, it does not include experience gained on a learner’s permit, any period whilst unlicensed, cancelled, disqualified from holding a Driver’s Licence or suspended from driving.

For minimum driving experience for each class of licence see Driver’s Licence classifications.
