Exemption from Boat Licence Examinations
You do not have to sit an examination if you have an
- interstate licence to operate a motor boat
- Certificate of Competency as a Coxswain, Master or Mate issued
by a State or Commonwealth marine authority
or any of the following, subject to the certificate having been
issued for an examination held not more than 2 years
before the application for a licence
- certificate of completion of the Australian Volunteer Coastguard
- Association’s course in Basic Seamanship with an examination
pass at level A, B or C
- certificate of completion of the South Australian Sea Rescue Squadron’s
Seamanship course
- Small Craft Proficiency Certificate issued by Transport WA
- Australian Yachting Federation Boat Handling Certificate (TL3)
- Australian Yachting Federation Inshore Seamanship Certificate (TL4)
- Australian Yachting Federation Motor Cruising Certificate (TL5)
- Certificate of completion of the Australian Boating College SABL1
