Applying for a Boat Operator’s Licence

  • be at least 16 years of age and provide Proof of Age
  • provide Proof of identity
  • disclose any disabilities
  • disclose any need to wear spectacles or contact lenses.

The holder of a current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence is deemed to meet the eyesight and medical standards for a Boat Operator’s Licence. If you answer "yes" to any medical or eyesight question and you do not have a Driver’s Licence, you will need to have a Medical and Eyesight Certificate - to Operate a Recreational Vessel completed by a registered optometrist or doctor.

Children at least 12 and not yet 16 years of age can apply for a Special Permit to Operate a Recreational Vesselt.
