Maintenance Management Module
The National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme Maintenance Management Module encourages heavy vehicle operators to take more responsibility for ensuring their vehicles are roadworthy and safe at all times. It helps members manage their business more efficiently due to the documented procedures in place ensuring vehicles are regularly maintained and as a result there will be less down time associated with breakdowns and annual inspections.
You need to ensure all accredited vehicles are maintained according to Australian Design Rules, Road Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Rules 1999, National Road Transport Commission Roadworthiness Guidelines and the Road Traffic Act & Regulations. These contain mandatory requirements for safe design, construction and maintenance of heavy vehicles.
Independent auditors audit accredited operators periodically, these auditors will confirm to Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure you are continuing to meet the standards required by the scheme prior to re-accreditation.
It is important to remember that even if you are an accredited operator you are still subject to the law and can be audited and inspected at any time in order to make sure you are conforming to the performance standards.
