Environmental Management

Training of DTEI staff and contractors is undertaken to raise awareness of DTEI ’s environmental management systems for construction and maintenance.

There are two environmental training packages currently available to DTEI contractors.

Environmental Training Program for Road Maintenance Workers

This is a one day training course for groups of 25 people.

The course is based on the DTEI Environmental Management Workbook for Roadside Maintenance Activities.

Environmental Awareness Training for Civil Construction Projects

A one day training course for DTEI civil construction contractors.

The aim of the course is to provide construction workers with the knowledge to identify environmental issues associated with their activities and best practice methods to minimise environmental impact. It will also outline environmental legal obligations relevant to construction activities. The  course is based on the DTEI workbook Environmental Awareness for Civil Construction Projects.

Requirements in Road and Bridge Contracts are for at least 2 people on site (including site rep / site supervisor and QMR) to have undertaken the training.
