Community

The South Australian Government is committed to embracing a community-orientated approach to road safety.

The important role of the broad community and community groups in addressing the road toll is emphasised in the National Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan.

Rather than a top down approach, the Government aims to develop a sense of ownership of this issue in the community – and a general understanding of why road safety measures are promoted.

By involving the community in meaningful ways we will ensure that members contribute to their own safety and the safety of others.

Most of the work that community groups do is aimed at raising awareness and educating the community about road safety issues.
