Specifications

The “Master Specification" is a suite of documents that DTEI uses as the basis of specifications for the design, construction and / or maintenance of transport infrastructure.

DTEI only uses the Master Specification under the supervision of professional civil engineers who are trained and experienced in the management of roadworks, bridgeworks and rail contracts. The Specification is designed for use where the Commissioner of Highways or Minister for Transport is the Principal. Because each part of the Master Specification cross-references other parts, individual parts of the specification cannot be used in isolation. In construction contracts, the Contract Specific Requirements will describe any requirements that are unique to that particular contract and any modifications to the Master Specification.

The specifications reference DTEI Test Procedures and Calibration Procedures.   DTEI also has a specification for the Excavation and Reinstatement of Road Pavement and Appendices for use when other authorities do work (eg laying pipes or conduits) on DTEI roads.

For further information about DTEI specifications, contact Corporate Contracting and Procurement on (08) 8343 2029.

The Specification has been made available on this web page primarily for the purpose of encouraging discussion and seeking feedback from participants in the construction industry.  You may copy these documents; however, if you use these documents for any purpose which is not consistent with the above (in particular, using them in contracts where the Commissioner of Highways or Minister of Transport is not the Principal), you do so at your own risk.

DTEI makes no representations or warranty that the Specifications have been prepared with reasonable care and does not assume a duty of care to you. DTEI has no responsibility to inform you of any matter coming to DTEI's notice which may affect the quality of the Specifications in any way.
