Accident Towing & Investigations

What is the Accident Towing & Investigations?

The Accident Towing & Investigations is a unit within the Driver Training and Audit section. It manages the Accident Towing Roster Scheme.

Accident Towing & Investigations

  • ensures that people who have to use tow trucks are dealt with fairly and in compliance with the law
  • gives advice on what to do at an accident if a tow truck is needed, including your rights and obligations
  • inspectors check complaints about persons or tow trucks who do not have the authority to be present at motor vehicle accidents
  • assess applications for the issue and renewal of Tow Truck Certificates and reviews eligibility to continue and hold certificates
  • assess and investigates applications for and renewal of positions on the Accident Towing Roster
  • provides secretarial and support service to an Accident Towing Roster Review Committee
  • keeps an up to date accident data base in conjunction with South Australia Police and the Accident Towing Roster
  • remains in touch with and shares information with the South Australia Police, Government agencies and the Motor Vehicle Insurance Industry. This is to make sure that the Accident Towing Roster Scheme works correctly and fairly.
